ABOUT ME

Thank you for visiting my site.

Finding a healing practitioner that is right for you is essential for wellness and success. I believe therapy is truly a partnership between the client and practitioner, and highly value the therapeutic relationship.  With this in mind, let me share a little about myself, my philosophy, and my wellness practice.

My Wellness Practice

Metamorphosis reflects my belief in transformational healing; I embrace an integrative and holistic approach to wellness that encompasses compassion, care, support, and personal empowerment.  I believe change is not only possible but clearly probable given the right support and techniques.

While I am confident that enormous change can occur quickly, it does not happen without an investment of time and energy.  In other words, there is no magic spell that can fix everything overnight.  Long term issues and deeply held unhealthy beliefs typically do not disappear without participation from the client, so each client is a vital part of the healing process and must take responsibility for wellness.

I  have a passion for cutting-edge research on consciousness and the mind, and blend the latest scientific knowledge with one’s inner wisdom for the deepest healing and sense of peace.

In my wellness practice, I blend my traditional University training in psychology and mental health counseling with complementary and alternative modes of healing. I utilize numerous therapeutic techniques including, hypnotherapy, guided imagery, NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming), visualization, dream work, and art therapy as I personalize the healing approach for each individual client.

My healing and hypnosis practice focuses on women’s wellness and healing, and is located in Hanover County, Virginia, just North of Richmond.  In addition to my private practice, I host three websites dealing with healthy relationships, individual growth, personal wellness, and living consciously in the planet.

Education and Training

In addition to my Masters degree in Mental Health Counseling and my Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology, I am a Certified Hypnotherapist and Hypnoanalyst. My counseling specialization is in issues of abuse and much of my traditional work involved counseling survivors of sexual assault and domestic violence. I have also worked with hundreds of male perpetrators of abuse as they worked toward overcoming their violent and abusive behaviors.

My Masters Degree in Mental Health Counseling is from Oakland University (one of the top counseling programs in the country), in Auburn Hills Michigan, where I graduated with a 3.9 GPA and earned membership in the Chi Sigma Iota National Counseling Honor Society.

My consciousness and cosmology studies include participating in the Center for the Story of the Universe at The California Institute for Integral Studies in San Francisco, California under the direction of Mathematical Cosmologist Dr. Brian Swimm, PhD.  In addition I am an active and participating member of the Institute of Noetic Sciences.

I am a certified hypnotherapist with an advanced certification in hypnoanalysis (the highest level of certification), from the International Institute of Medical and Dental Hypnotherapy.  I have a certification in Herbal Healing from the School of Natural Healing, and received my Yoga Instruction Certification from American Fitness Professionals and Associates.

In addition, I have been fortunate to receive additional specialized training from some of the most well-respected and knowledgeable scholars and authorities in their fields. For example, I received my training in Sexual Addition from Dr. Patrick Carnes, one of the world's foremost authorities in the field, and my training in visualization and guided imagery from the truly amazing Belleruth Naparstek.

My Personal Life

I am in awe of the wonders of the universe, curious about pretty much everything, and passionate about life, relationships, and creativity.  My interest in the mind, behavior, and belief started in my youth and has never diminished.  I am fascinated by the human journey, our subconscious, and our amazing abilities to heal and change.

I love children and am a Treatment Foster/adoptive Parent for older youth who are currently expected to age out of the system. One of my big goals in life is to get children into permanent families where they are loved and cherished!

In addition to my wellness practice, I am a concert harpist and yoga instructor.

One of my biggest passions and most fulfilling parts of my life is my volunteer work as a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) for abused and neglected children.  I am fortunate to have found this beautiful work and to have met some of the most darling children on the planet!

In my personal life, I am a bit of a health (emotional, physical, spiritual) fanatic.  I live a very simple life and find pleasure in the little things.  I enjoy yoga, reading, art work, dancing, playing in my healing garden, visiting historic sites and museums (I do live in Virginia), and most of all  spending time with my amazing and incredible family.
